Βιολόγος με Μεταπτυχιακό στην Οικολογία και Υποψήφιος Διδάκτορας Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης με θέμα της διατριβής την οικολογία των πουλιών σε τεχνητούς υγροτόπους της Κρήτης. Με 32 χρόνια εμπειρία σε θέματα ορνιθολογικής έρευνας, παρακολούθησης και αξιολόγησης της κατάστασης πληθυσμών ειδών πουλιών, με στόχο την εκτίμηση των οικολογικών τους απαιτήσεων και των πιέσεων για τον σχεδιασμό δράσεων προστασίας και διατήρησης.

Εργάζομαι στο Μουσείο Φυσικής Ιστορίας Κρήτης ΠΚ (ΜΦΙΚ) ως Βιολόγος, ειδικός επιστήμονας με μεγάλη εμπειρία σε προγράμματα χρηματοδοτούμενα από την ΕΕ ή διεθνείς οργανισμούς και σε θέματα περιβαλλοντικού σχεδιασμού, έρευνας και προστασίας ειδών (με έμφαση στα πουλιά), οικολογικής αξιολόγησης, καθώς και ανάλυσης απειλών και βασικών προβλημάτων, σε επίπεδο περιοχών. Επίσης τακτικά συμμετέχω σε εκδόσεις του ΜΦΙΚ και έχω πολλές παρουσιάσεις σε συνέδρια. Αυτή την εποχή συγγράφω βιβλίο για τα πουλιά της Κρήτης.

Είναι εδώ και 30 χρόνια μέλος της Ελληνικής Ορνιθολογικής Εταιρείας με ενεργή συμμετοχή, εθελοντική κυρίως, σε δράσεις της. Συμμετέχω κάθε χρόνο στις Καταγραφές που κάνει η ΕΟΕ όπως είναι Καταγραφές των Υδρόβιων Πουλιών που Διαχειμάζουν στην Ελλάδα (με ευθύνη για όλη την Κρήτη), Καταγραφή των Κοινών Αναπαραγώμενων Ειδών της Ελλάδας (περιοχή κοντά στο Ηράκλειο) και Πουλιών που αναπαράγονται σε Αγροτικές Περιοχές (δύο περιοχές της Κρήτης) ενώ συμμετέχω σε καταγραφές για τις Σημαντικές Περιοχές για τα Πουλιά της Ελλάδας IBA και των Περιοχών Ειδικής Προστασίας SPA.

Είμαι μέλος της (7μελούς) Επιστημονικής Επιτροπής «Επιτροπή Αξιολόγησης Ορνιθολογικών Παρατηρήσεων, ΕΑΟΠ» που αξιολογεί και επικυρώνει καταγραφές σπάνιων ειδών πτηνών στην Ελλάδα.
