O Μάνος Στρατάκης είναι υποψήφιος διδάκτορας του τμήματος Βιολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης. Σπούδασε Βιολογία στο Ηράκλειο της Κρήτης (2011-2015) και στη συνέχεια απέκτησε Μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο σπουδών στη  «Διαχείριση Χερσαίων και Θαλάσσιων Οικοσυστημάτων» (2016-2018). Αποτελεί μέλος του εργαστηρίου «Μοριακής Συστηματικής» του Μουσείου Φυσικής Ιστορίας Κρήτης με επιστημονικό υπεύθυνο τον καθηγητή Νίκο Πουλακάκη από το 2014, ενώ έχει συνεργαστεί με διάφορους επιστημονικούς φορείς τόσο στην Ελλάδα (EΛ.ΚΕ.Θ.Ε., Ι.Τ.Ε) όσο και στο εξωτερικό (CIBIO- Research Center in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources Portugal, Ecology and Biodiversity Lab, Department of Biological Sciences, University of Cyprus).

Στα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα εντάσσονται η μοριακή συστηματική, η φυλογένεση, η φυλογεωγραφία, η μοριακή οικολογία, η γενωμική και η πληθυσμιακή γενετική. Αποτελεί εν ενεργεία αξιολογητή ειδών για τους κόκκινους καταλόγους της ΙUCN και έχει συμμετάσχει σε διάφορα ερευνητικά έργα, εργασίες πεδίου, εκπαιδεύσεις και επιστημονικά συνέδρια. Για την ερευνητική του πορεία έχει βραβευτεί με το κληροδότημα Μανασσάκη από το τμήμα Βιολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης.
