Photo of the Eurasian Hoopoe, Upupa epops. For a hoopoe every stopover site that can forage during migration is useful. This species does not have the capacity for very rapid and long flights, so spring and autumn stopovers in Mediterranean area are especially valuable before or after crossing the Sahara desert, where food is scarce.
