Photo of Beech Martens, Martes foina. The Beech Marten is a very common small carnivore throughout Greece. Its diet, apart from small mammals, largely includes fruits and nuts. Some years ago its fur had a high commercial value. Nowadays, since it is not hunted for its fur and due to human activities food availability has increased, and as a consequence, in many places populations increase and the animal may be found even within cities.
