Photo of a Laughing Dove, Streptopelia senegalensis, North Africa’s most common bird. It may be a passerine, but it is adapted to predation as is obvious from its hooked bill. It preys upon large beetles and even small birds, which can often be seen “spiked” - waiting to be eaten - on the thorns of bushes which also define its territorial limits.
