Mountainous conifers (southern Bulgaria) diorama
Photo of male Black Grouse, Tetrao urogallus. It lives in highland forests with firs and other conifers, as long as there are shrubs and fruits present. In the winter, the Western Capercaillie feeds on fir leaves. Its populations have been greatly decreased and face extinction. In this photo we can see a male bird (or cock) which is much bigger than the female (or hen).
