Photo of a sample of Meta-Bauxite from the phyllite-quartzite nappe, collected in the area of Sougia Chania, Crete, Greece. The phyllite is a metamorphic rock with strong foliation and good schistosity. It is characterized by the very small size of the mineral crystals. Meta-Bauxite is a high pressure metamorphosed ore containing diaspore, chloritoid and carpholite.
