Photo of the Orsini's Viper, Vipera ursinii, which is a viper species. It reaches 50 cm in length. It is active mainly during the day. It is found at altitudes usually higher than 1400m (up to 2250m). It feeds mainly on big insects, but also on small rodents and lizards. Its venom is rather weak, nevertheless, a medical treatment is advised in case of bite.
