Photo of the Balkan Terrapin, Mauremys rivulata, a freshwater terrapin found throughout Greece. It is a very tolerant species and its extinction from a place indicates heavy pollution or serious degradation. Young eat mainly invertebrates, tadpoles and fish, whereas mature animals are mostly herbivorous.
