Photo of the tuberoid roots of the White asphodel, Asphodelus ramosus subsp. ramosus. This is the most common asphodel of Greece and grows in woodland, phrygana and soil-filled hollows. It has finger-like root tubers that allow the plant to resist the Mediterranean drought.
