Photo of the Red-throated Pipit, Anthus cervinus. The Red-throated Pipit (Anthus cervinus) is a small passerine bird which breeds in the far north of Europe and Asia to tundra and taiga zone. It winters mainly in south Africa but few birds stay in the Mediterranean region. From early spring, as it passes through Greece, its neck and throat take the reddish appearance, like this individual that was photographed in March on Crete, Greece.
