Photo of the inflorescence of Yellow asphodel, Asphodeline lutea, in Crete, Greece. It is found growing wild in the eastern Mediterranean, and prefers well-drained, sandy soils. In Crete, its edible young shoots are part of the Cretan "Wild Greens” diet.
