Thorny Burnet

Photo of the Thorny burnet, Sarcopoterium spinosum, about to give fruit. This perennial, low, cushion shaped spiny shrub, is typical of the phrygana scrublands of Greece. It has different leaves in the winter and summer months, that enable it to survive the summer drought. It spreads very easily after fire.
