Calabrian Pine, Pinus brutia, snug trunk of tree

Photo of a fallen trunk of Calabrian Pine, Pinus brutia. This tree is one of the most common conifers of the south Aegean. It grows up to 1.200 m altitude, and often forms sparse woodlands. It can be distinguished from its similar P. halepensis by its very short stalk of its cones.
