Calabrian Pine, Pinus brutia

Photo of Calabrian Pine, Pinus brutia, in Samaria gorge, Crete, Greece. This tree is one of the most common conifers of the south Aegean. It grows up to 1.200 m altitude, and often forms sparse woodlands. It can be distinguished from its similar P. halepensis by its very short stalk of its cones.
