During a very decent ceremony that took place on the evening of the 28th of December 2012 at the Academy of Sciences in Athens, the Natural History Museum of Crete of the University of Crete was awarded by the Emmanuel Benakis prize of the Academy.
The prize was awarded to the Museum for its complex educational, research, writing and publishing deed, its exemplary organization and structure that designate it as one of the most significant, for its specialty, museum globally, in which scientific research is being advanced and make it equivalent to similar foreign institutions and education sites.
The director of the Museum, Prof Moyses Mylonas received the prize in the name of the Museum, while, the Rector of the University of Crete, Prof Evripides Stefanou was also present.
The Museum feels the extra honor and burden following this awarding and promises that it will keep working with the same ardency and responsibility to achieve its goals.
